Let us continue to Go for our Lord.
We praise God for giving us a fruitful year of missions in 2011. In total, our Church made 31 overseas mission trips plus 4 local mission projects. It encourages us as this represented about 58% of our total Church members and friends involvement.
This year, we are continuing our emphasis on missions. The reason for this is because we want to encourage and challenge those who have yet to participate in any mission trips to do so. For those who have been on mission trips last year and felt led to be involved and go on another trip, we will again rejoice and be encouraged by this developed zeal on mission work.
2012 is going to be a busy year for us. We are expecting to move back to our new church building and there will be many adjustments to make. Therefore, in order not to stress ourselves too much, after prayers and for practical consideration, the leadership in AMKMC deemed it wise to continue our focus on missions for another year.
Our purpose for this year’s mission thrust will be :
- First, to create awareness amongst our Church members and friends that the mission of God is not confined just to our AMK community or Singapore but it extends to a wider world.
-Second, we hope that such mission exposures to especially the third world countries will help us as a Church to appreciate the work of missionaries and prayerfully this will give us greater motivation to get involved and support their work.
-Third, it is our hope that out of these overseas mission exposures, we may be used by God to raise and challenge from amongst us future full-time missionaries.
-Finally, we wish to be able to fulfill our vision of being a people after God’s heart like the early Methodists who were very involved with the total mission of God. If not for the early methodists, Methodism would not have reached the shores of Singapore. We are indeed indebted to the early Methodists.
My prayer and hope is that we at AMKMC will rise up like the early Methodists and be a people after God’s heart. To take this challenge to be involved with the total mission of God so that we can leave a legacy for future generations to emulate. To God be the glory!
