Our church theme for 2017 is Love People.
In 2017, our Theme is Love God
A quick RECAP: “To Be A Methodist Family After God’s Heart” is our vision theme for 2016 to 2019. Last year, our sub-theme was Love God. This year, we will shift focus to Love People (Fellowship and Care).
This combines two commandments – First, love our neighbour as ourselves (Mark 12:31, Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 22:39), the second great commandment according to the Lord Jesus. Second – the new commandment that He gave us – to love one another as He loves us (John 13:34). If we are able to do this, Jesus says, it will be a powerful witness to those around us – By this all shall know we are His disciples (John 13:35). Therefore such love is also a mark of true Christian discipleship.
There are many “one anothers” in the New Testmament. We are to forgive, honour, serve, encourage one another among other things. All these one anothers derive from the central one another – LOVE.
So, our pulpit series will be dealing with the “one another” and we pray that knowing about, growing in and practising these “one anothers” will also help us grow in love for people, our neighbour.
Of course the biblical word for love here is AGAPE. This is the word used in John 3:16 (For God so loved the world…) to describe God’s love for all of us. The Bible says this is the love God wants His people to have, not only for Him but also for others as well.
So let us pray that all of us at AMKMC will indeed grow in maturity and practise to LOVE PEOPLE.
In His Love,
